The Stoke Mandeville Village Society

October 2026 - After a summer of planning and licencing discussions, we were finally able to start construction of the war memorial in August. Local contractor WillsByrne (who were originally going to build the memorial) rejoined the project team and have been working on creating the foundations, laying the paving, fitting the silhouette statues of the services and constructing the obelisk. When the finishing touches are done, the fencing will be removed and final photographs can be taken.

Plans for the inauguration of the memorial and its first use on Remembrance Sunday 8th November are underway. We hope to see as many of you that are able to join us on Sunday.
